Conventions - Assistant Event Specialist

Come join the team at Pastimes Events! We are looking to add an enthusiastic and creative team member to our crew who is interested in helping create great experiences for fun loving gamers! The ideal candidate will find themselves making fun happen at conventions all over the country, experiencing the fun and insanity of convention life behind the curtain! (We organize gaming events at conventions like PAX and Gen Con)

What are you going to do?

In this role you will work with our events team, engage with our great customers and staff to help plan, create and manage experiences for fans all over the US. You will utilize your attention to detail, creative skills and ability to gameify anything to help the team organize and execute plans for an ongoing calendar of great events. Join us and you will:

      • Work with team members to create and implement event plans, personnel and programs
      • Create, monitor and engage with in-house and user-created content or feedback on social media platforms
      • Work with the Event and Merchandise teams to keep customers informed about the latest news, messaging and updates 

Desired Skills and Experience (including but not limited to):

      • 2+ years of positively engaging with organized play of gaming events or related experiences
      • Great written and verbal communication skills 
      • Experience working and coordinating with a variety of internal and external partners
      • Ability to prioritize a high number of tasks in a self directed environment
      • Ability to travel

Location and Compensation

 

While this position can be hybrid, working in person with the team and our physical assets in the Chicago area will be necessary at times. Being located in the area is preferred. Relocation assistance may be available. Compensation will vary based on experience. Expectation is in the $32,000 - $40,000 range. Benefits include: Paid Time Off, discounts in our retail store, 401K with match, flexible schedule and travel.
