After all of the Qualifiers have been run, The Grudge Match Championship will be held at the store that who had the most players play during the qualifying events. The details are below:
Championship Format: 4-man Team Standard (Unified Constructed)
Structure: Round Robin (6-rounds - two rounds against each opposing team)
● Each round, each player on a store's team will be matched up against a random player on an opposing team (never twice against the same player).
● All 4 players will play each round. Each team will play two rounds against each other team.
● Unlike typical team formats, individual players' matches will be recorded separately.
● A team's point total will be the sum of the match points of all players on that team.
After 6 rounds (which would include 24 individual matches), the team with the highest match point total will be declared the winner.
In case of ties the following tiebreak procedure will be used: Each team will secretly select one of their players who would oppose one player on each other team. That player will play the chosen representative of that team in a single-game match. When all matches have finished, any team that does not have the highest point total is eliminated. Repeat the tiebreaker procedure until a winner is decided. No player may be selected an for an nth match until all other players on that team have played n-1 matches.
Championship Prizes:
Each player will receive a custom Grudge Match Playmat with the logos of the 4 stores involved (only 16 of this mat to be produced)
1st Place Team - $1000 for the team
2nd Place Team - $600 for the team
3rd Place Team - $200 for the team
4th Place Team - $100 for the team
In addition, a trophy will be produced which will stay in the care of the store who wins the Grudge Match until such time that another store challenges that store to a new Grudge Match. At that time the trophy may move to another store.
So clear your calendars now! Get ready to support your store! We’ll see you in September!
